Happy Thursday everyone and welcome to another week of wonderful doors. This week I am showcasing a few more doors from one of my favourite suburbs in Sydney, Paddington. I have shown SO many doors from Paddington that I am truly amazed that there are still more to discover, it’s the gift that keeps on giving and I am here for it. As always, please let me know if you have a favourite this week.

My favourite this week is number three due to the unusual colour for a door, the transom window and arch above it. I also love how the security door is the same colour. How about you?
Our front door is red and definitely stands out in the neighborhood. It’s been through quite a journey! Originally, it was on the west side of the house, but my incredibly handy husband decided to move it to the south side. That change caused a bit of confusion for a while—there was a period where the front of the house had no entry at all. We used the garage or the two sliding patio doors on the west side to come and go.
One afternoon, I was sitting in the den watching TV when I noticed a man walking slowly around the house—more than once. Eventually, he stopped on the patio, took off his hat, scratched his head, and looked thoroughly puzzled. I opened the patio door and asked if I could help him. He gave me our address and asked if he was at the right place, which I confirmed. Then he said, “I was looking for your front door, but now I know why I can’t find it. I’ve got it on my truck!”
I couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Front doors bring a whole lot to our lives.

That’s hilarious and very clever you were able to move the door. It must be confusing when you can’t find the front door 😂

Though a door that leads to a “concept store” is extremely intriguing, I am all about that red door with the etched glass — definitely my favorite!

Thanks very much. Agreed. The red is great and I have no idea what a concept store is.

House no 24 is my favourite in this gallery. Is that the one you called number three?

Yes indeed, number 24 is now called 3 haha. Thanks very much, it’s a classic door.

I always enjoy looking at the doors. I think my favourite this week is no. 2 because of the plants around it.

Thank you Pooja! You can’t beat having plants around the door.

I like number 2 the most. Something about it seems very welcoming, as if a friend is inside waiting to see me, hug me and put the kettle on so we can catch up xx

Great photos and a gallery of elegant doors, Wayne. I found it hard to pick a favorite this week. The first door with the various shadows and shapes you included in the photo of the bare branches almost like sculpture is wonderful. I love the softness added to door number two with the red flowering bush/vine. Excellent as always. Thank you!

Thanks as always Suzette. I love how you never fail to pick up on the subtleties of any photo.

These are great doors, Wayne. I like No. 4. It’s a cool black door and it’s one a tight corner.
I don’t know if it’s me (somewhat colorblind) or if you notice, but the first door gives the illusion of color (or perhaps it’s not an illusion) from those glass panes. It’s a very attractive door.

Thanks Dan, I think it is a brown door 🤔 and I love corner doors!!

I really like # 4 with the black door. Well, black is my favorite color, and this reminds me of the Rolling Stones song Paint it Black. Also that quote up top is really good!

Number 5. I like the red one

Great choice Hazel. I think I would have loved it more if the security door was open although the white does add to the image too.

Oh yes the red is beautiful but my favourite this week is the white one because it has the pretty red flower beside the entry. Have a good day!

Thank you Teresa. You are forgiven haha, that flower really does work with the door.

Some lovely doors. I particularly like the light green arched door. Are those gates a thing? What are they for? You don’t see that much in the UK.

Thank you! Yes I had never seen those doors until I came to Australia. They’re security doors, so you can leave your front door open to get a breeze through your home but you can lock the security door. It’s pretty good actually but sometimes takes away the look of an amazing door.

That makes so much sense – thank you.
