1. It’s not yet the end of September, but already shops are displaying Christmas merchandise here in the UK. Do you think this is too early?
YESSSSS! It’s the same here in Australia. I have seen Christmas merchandise even from last week. It is way too early but it’s the same every year. At least get Halloween over first.
2. What is your favourite traditional holiday in your country?
I used to absolutely love St Patrick’s Day. Everyone wearing green and celebrating being Irish. Now I long for the Christmas season, more so the period leading up to it. The winter attire, Christmas markets, staff parties, the festive music and the whole buzz that leads up to Christmas Day. For me, it just doesn’t hit the same in Australia.
3. Do you think such celebrations are over commercialised?
Absolutely! It’s all a money making machine. We need to get back to the root of the celebrations instead of buying lavish gifts that we can’t afford.
4. Would you like to introduce a new annual National Holiday?
Oh yes please! In an ideal world, wouldn’t it be great to celebrate planet earth. A worldwide public holiday where everyone takes a day off to appreciate and protect our planet. Communities could plant trees, clean beaches, explore nature and celebrate wildlife. Imagine a day when people worldwide made a collective effort to look after Earth, needed now more than ever.
