What could you do less of?
I could do less worrying about my retirement.
For some reason my brain loves to jump years into the future and stress about something that isn’t even here yet. I think about it often, like it’s a problem I can solve just by overthinking it. However, honestly…what is the point? Life is too short. I’m doing what I can now, and that is enough. The rest will work itself out, and I don’t need to sacrifice today by panicking about a tomorrow that hasn’t even arrived yet.
Happy Monday everyone!!!

The fact that you are thinking about it is good. Worrying, not so much. I certainly wish I had planned for it. More going out than coming in is really freaky

Yes that’s so true. I’m hoping I haven’t started too late but it’s all about balance.

I have been retired for a year and a half and two years before I retired I told everyone that I would retire in two years. I loved what I did but I also knew that I would want to retire at that point in my life. the funny part was that people kept asking, ‘well, what are your plans?’ and I kept answering, ‘none really, I just want to have the time and freedom to do as I choose.’ it worried and freaked a lot of people out, but not me and I’ve done exactly that and have been very happy!

I’m retired two years now and although I started saving for it when I was in my late 20s, I escalated it when I reached my 40s and as my disposable income grew. We wanted to be able to travel and not have to work at all (no part-time jobs, etc although I’ve done a bit) and like you I was worried about it. Turns out that I really over-planned and fretted too much, but I also think it’s partly that attitude that has ensured comfort, too.
If you can, try to strike a balance. You do need to be aware of where you are financially and what you want to do when retirement starts, but if you have a good plan you can probably also relax a bit. Cheers.

Thanks Lynette!!! That sounds like your hard work and planning really paid off. I think you’re right, it’s about trying to strike the right balance.

I don’t know if I’ll ever fully retire. I think I’ll still end up working part time, both for supplemental income and to keep myself active and interacting with others.
But it’s never too early to start taking steps. Best to be ahead of the curve.

That’s actually reassuring to hear Richard. Who is to say we have to fully retire…

You’re too young to retire but not too old to start planning for it.

Glad to hear that and you will be too when you retire.
PS Slide into retirement, don’t go cold turkey. You can only spend so much time in the gym!

Retirement happens whether or not you stress over it. A Bank financial planner might be able to help you work on it?
