Doors of WordPress V132

Happy Thursday everyone and welcome to another week of wonderful doors. We have turned a corner with Sydney’s weather with blue skies returning and temperatures increasing ever so slightly. This is the last official week of winter here, so roll on spring next week!

This week I am showing some doors from one of my favourite suburbs in Sydney known as Woollahra. I have shown many doors from here in the past but this place has been on the news of late due to a new train station being built here and new homes being created. The train station I think is being welcomed, however, the new housing is quite controversial as there is limited space in Woollahra. It would be a complete shame if they were to demolish some older buildings with abundance of character to make way for new apartment blocks to be erected. I have heard this may be happening but I’m hopeful that it will not go ahead.

As always, please let me know if you have a stand-out door this week.

For me, it is number 2 this week. I love the colour of the door and it blends perfectly with the home and the greenery. Have a great day everyone and I look forward to seeing many other doors being published today.

  1. I love the tidiness and sense of order in that second one, but I favor the fifth because of the contrast between the creamy solid color and the darker, more textured color of the brick. I like the effect. I join you in hoping for the preservation of the old, if at all possible.

  2. It’s interesting that we both had stories of new train stations this week, Wayne. The station going up in our town is also supposed to include some housing, and that’s also controversial, but for a different reason. People here are upset that it might be low-income housing. Personally, I think that would be a big step forward. Access to the trains would allow people to work in any of the eight major towns serviced by the rail or as far away as New York City.

My favorite today is the second one. I love the subtle colors and the welcoming feel of that small house. I especially like the light coming through the transom window.

    1. Thanks Dan. Yes I was thinking about your train station when I was writing my post. The housing is also controversial here but it’s a wealthy suburb and locals are worried of the ‘clientele’ that could be moving in.

  3. Wonderful photos Wayne. I love the grandness you captured in the first door, capturing height and perspective…superb photo. But I must admit I am partial to beautiful lace-like wrought ironwork; therefore, number three is my favorite. But I like them all, really.

  4. As you drift into spring, we drift into autumn, and the rain has started after a very dry summer (for the UK).

Door number 2 (No35) ticks my boxes, charming and symmetrical
