Thank you PENSITIVITY101 for this weeks festive questions, perfect for getting into the Christmas spirit.

  1. Do you have any family traditions?

We normally celebrate Christmas Eve more than anything as we are 50% German in our household. We enjoy a raclette together as a family, basically itโ€™s a small grill where we have lots of ingredients from meats, to potatoes to different vegetables all covered in a layer of melted cheese. Itโ€™s a great way to enjoy food and quality family time together.

2. With December on its way, have you ever been carol singing?

I remember carol singing outdoors in our home town with my school. I actually really enjoyed it and we even stopped outside my family home and sang a carol with my mum and baby sister watching from the front porch. That was pretty special.

3. Do you decorate your home for the Christmas holidays?

Absolutely yes! I love the Christmas decorations as they really make you feel warm, cosy and ready for the festive period. Normally we have a Christmas tree and a few little Christmas ornaments scattered around the living room. This year will be extra special as we are home to the cold weather and surrounded by family. We have been in Australia for the past few years and for us it hasnโ€™t felt very Christmassy due to the heat and the attire being slightly different i.e. T-shirts and shorts.

4. Do you enjoy the Christmas rush for preparations and shopping?

This is a yes and no for me. I do like the atmosphere, people full of Christmas cheer and running about collecting my gifts, however, I really dislike queues and large crowds.

Roll on Christmas and the lead up to it! Enjoy your week everyone.

  1. To me the holidays are what you make of them. If they are not enjoyed don’t do it, and I come from a huge family Italian/Irish and no matter how tight some things got at times we made our own beautiful Christmases with each other. I love this time of the year and I love cold weather but living in VA I don’t get much snow,.
Christmas is in your heart and not in presents or gifts. It’s the people that matter
the most. We sang carols around the neighborhood going around house to house with our fawn huge great dane leading it with his “antlers” on. Unfortunately when he passed we lost the desire to do them anymore. So we sing them in the house with a piano and by the decorations and each other. May all find their sense of inner peace for the holidays no matter what you enjoy doing.

  2. Thanks for joining in Wayne. How lovely you’ll be together with family this year. Hope it won’t be too cold for you! I remember one Christmas my Mum was cooking for 15! They only had a modest semi so it was done in two shifts. It was a great day. Squirty cream has a lot to answer for!

      1. I’ve done it too years ago, when I not only catered for partner and his 2 boys, but our foster girl and her boyfriend, partner’s ex wife and her boyfriend (long story but it was OK), partner’s Mum and stepfather and one year his Mum invited her sister and her husband to Christmas dinner at our house!! Biggest peeve there was I not only did all of the cooking, but no-one offered to help with the washing up.

      2. Oh wow that is a lot and they should have at least cleaned up. Thatโ€™s the rules ๐Ÿ˜… hopefully someone can help clean the dishes this year ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

      3. Hubby and I usually go by whoever cooks dinner doesn’t wash up. It’s only the two of us and the dog and I tend to wash up the pots as I go after serving. He’s very good though, and he can cook too!
