Happy Friday everyone. This flower was seen in the garden here at our hotel in Bali where we are vacationing for a few days before heading back to Ireland. I will continue to work on my New Zealand blogs over the coming days and hopefully share my Bali experience also 😊.

“Aphrodite’s phalaenopsis is an orchid hailing from Taiwan and the Philippines. It is an epiphyte, which are sometimes called ‘air plants’ because they grow on trees or other objects, and get all the nutrients they need from debris that drops from the air onto those hosts. The delicate yet striking appearance of this flower has inspired the alternative common name of Goddess of Fertility” (Picture This, 2022).
Have a great weekend everyone and take care.

My curiosity was piqued by your post about Aphrodite’s Phalaenopsis, so I took a closer look at the plant and its growing requirements. For a moment, I thought it might be something desert-friendly that I could incorporate into our patio here in Arizona.
But alas, no.
It apparently prefers humidity somewhere around 50–75%, daytime temperatures of about 65–80°F, and nighttime temperatures around 60–65°F. That pretty much eliminates Arizona, except perhaps for one particularly cooperative week out of the year.
Still, that flowering stalk is absolutely beautiful, and I have to admit it is tempting enough to make a person consider keeping one room of the house at orchid-approved specifications. Of course, doing that in Arizona would probably deplete the retirement savings rather quickly.
So, for now, we are back to plastic flowers from the bargain bin at the discount store.
Thank you for sharing this wonderfully tempting beauty all the same!

How stunning! I’ve never seen one of these orchids growing wild. We can buy them in our grocery store for about $30.00 USD per plant, but I (Kellye) would love to have one(s) growing in my garden.
