Happy Thursday everyone and welcome to yet another weekly post featuring some more of my favourite doors in Sydney.
With all the rain we have been having lately, itβs great to be able to look back at photographs that make you smile, back to when we had sunnier days. There have been no new doors spotted this week due to the wet conditions and also me working a lot this week but thatβs ok as my collection is pretty big at the moment.
Take a look at my chosen doors for this week and see if you have a favourite.

I like all of these but I am really drawn to number 4. I love the door for its colour and carvings but I also love the hallway to the door and the little lantern hanging outside.
What are your thoughts? Do you have a favourite and if so, what are the reasons? Iβm always intrigued to hear other peopleβs perspectives.
Thanks for reading and take care.

I’m running very late this week, Wayne, but I love the colors of the first two and of course the yellow one. Hope your week’s off to a good start.

The yellow door of course is my favorite. I can’t help noticing the gates on windows and doors, are they for security?

Thank you! I love the yellow one too and the brick work around it. Yes I always wondered that too. I initially thought security, some people also say for protection from the weather elements. I think so you can leave the front door open for air but can lock the security door.

In many of the southern European countries, those gates are mainly used for security.

Lovely doors. My favourite is the bright yellow door. It makes one wonder how warm and cheerful the interior must be.

Definitely like the first one. Like the head-on shot of the door with the black screen door and how the porch surrounding ironwork (with beautiful scroll work) makes a sharp turn to the right outlining that area. Just makes for a very pretty picture.

These are all nice, but I like the yellow door at the bottom. I like the dentil molding above the door, and the full arch transom windows.

Thanks Dan. I love that too. I like how you always appreciate the detail π

That’s one of my favorite moldings. I have made it on a few pieces, using a machine, of course. When I see something like this, that was likely cut by hand, I really admire it. Someone went to a lot of effort to make that door look a little better.

Blue fought with red and then with yellow. It was close, but yellow emerged triumphant! Only just!
