Doors of WordPress V170 – St Ives

Happy Thursday everyone and welcome back to another week of wonderful doors. This week I am showcasing five doors discovered when we were in England and managed to squeeze in a wee trip to St Ives. Now, when people (me included) hear the name St Ives, most immediately think of the famous seaside town in Cornwall, however, nestled in Cambridgeshire is another St Ives that is every bit as charming in its own understated way.

This delightful riverside market town is full of character, with beautiful historic buildings, winding streets and an abundance of architectural details that catch your eye. As someone who enjoys photographing doors, I found myself stopping time and again to admire the town’s colourful front doors, grand entrances and centuries-old building, the perfect inspiration for my Thursday Doors post.

On a side note, one of the highlights of any visit to St Ives, is taking a leisurely boat trip along the River Great Ouse. Cruising through the peaceful countryside offers a different perspective of the town, with picturesque scenery, riverside homes and plenty of opportunities to simply relax and enjoy the moment.

St Ives may not be the most famous one in England, but its quaint charm, rich history, beautiful architecture and welcoming atmosphere make it a destination that’s well worth discovering.
