Thank you Di for this week’s questions. Seeing as today is International Nurses Day, I will relate these questions to some of my past nursing experiences.
1. How would you describe your sense of humour?
I am very easily amused. When a patient of mine rolls their eyes at another nurse, it makes me chuckle.
2. What was the most recent thing that made you laugh out loud?
The point above made me laugh. Said nurse was completely unawares which was good as I don’t derive pleasure from peoples’ misfortunes. I wouldn’t want any one to be upset etc.
3. Have you ever laughed until you cried?
Oh I used to belly laugh until my sides split. When I was a nursing student I had many episodes where I couldn’t stop laughing and the more I shouldn’t laugh, the worse it was.
4. Have you ever laughed at an inopportune moment?
Yes absolutely, I remember we had a funny mentor on placement and I was doing an impression of her for my friend when she walked in and interrupted my performance. My friend and I could not stop laughing and had to come up with a quick cover story. I’m sure our mentor thought we were mad.
However, on a final note, laughter really is the best medicine.
It’s always good to have a sense of humour. And who doesn’t enjoy laughter!? I couldn’t agree more about laughter is the best medicine.

Oh me too, they are so infectious. There’s many times I’m laughing just at others laughing.

Yes! There’s a lady at our church who has this shrill, piercing, but obviously very sincere laugh. She produces it every time the pastor says something even slightly funny. She has made me laugh out loud in church multiple times.

I can imagine some of the situations you’ve encountered over the years still make you chuckle (I have a sister who is a nurse and, oh my, the stories she can tell!).
