I didn’t just suddenly realise that I had blogged for 200 days in a row, I knew it. A notification told me every day, so the number was always ticking away in the background and it became something I was quietly aiming towards. I wanted to see if I could actually do it and see what the benefits would be, if any.
For the most part, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Once writing becomes part of the day, you stop debating whether you will do it or not. You just sit down and write. Some days it flows and other days it just feels like an effort, but I still wanted to show up.
I would say it has made me more observant. When you are writing daily, small things start to stand out, a word from home, an old door, a beach, something overheard, it got to the point where I couldn’t wait to create my daily blog post.
It has also helped me to trust my own voice and to not overthink it as much. I do not have to be writing reams of words to make an interesting post. Joining a few challenges, including my own Wayne’s Word has definitely kept the fire burning.
I have really enjoyed the small connections too. Someone recognising a place, a word or sharing the same points of view. Someone saying they enjoyed a post. It doesn’t have to be big to matter but the connections really do make a huge difference and provide you the momentum to keep going.
Toward the end, though, it did become tiring. The writing started to feel more like something I had to do than something I wanted to do. That’s usually a sign that it is time to stop for a bit. I was also (and probably still am) disheartened that the daily blogging prompts are all the same as last year. Therefore, if you have answered them before, it doesn’t let you answer again. Of course there are ways around this but fresh blogging prompts would have been warmly welcomed to kickstart into 2026.
Nevertheless, I am glad I challenged myself and blogged for the 200 days. I am glad I stuck with it and it really made me appreciate having a few days off after to step back and reflect. I really do enjoy the blogging frequently but now that I have completed my own challenge, I do not feel the need to blog every single day.
I would like to end by saying thank you to all the bloggers here on this platform. I love to read your posts and your comments. This is such a great space for connecting and making the world a smaller place, a friendly and caring environment where we can share our thoughts, ideas and experiences.

An impressive accomplishment, Wayne! I know what you mean about when it begins to feel like a chore. I stick with my three-times a week routine because it gives me a little pause in-between.
Display your virtual medal proudly, my friend!

Ah thanks a lot. I think you have hit the sweet spot Richard, three times a week sounds about right to me.

Thank you Wayne – and congratulations. I always read your blog every day, without fail. I don’t always comment, but I always appreciate what you have to say, however short. Don’t feel you have to keep it up every day, but I, for one, love the daily lift that you give me. David
