Share your World – 09/12/25

Thank you Di for this weeks interesting questions.

1.  Have you ever been fishing?

I went once with a friend as a teenager and found it extremely boring and I detested putting the bait on the hook. Needless to say, I never tried it again.

2. What do you consider to be the bravest thing you’ve ever done?

Moving to Australia.

3. Would you rather:
curl up with a good book in front of an open fire, or
settle down with a tub of popcorn and watch a good movie with a friend.

A tub of popcorn and watch a movie. I would say I rarely do either of these but a movie with a friend sounds fun.

4. Have you ever owned tropical fish?

No funnily enough I have never. When I was a kid, my family home had a tank of colourful fish and I really loved watching them, there was something so fascinating and therapeutic about watching fish swimming, with seemingly not a care in the world. Maybe I one day will have my own fish, that’s not something I have ever considered before.

  1. I fished only once, and it was when visiting australia. the fish was the size of my little finger and it did get a good laugh but I felt bad for it and threw it back. fishing is not really my thing )

  2. Hi Wayne, thanks for joining in again this week. I must admit fishing was not in my top 100 things to do, but as I was visiting my brother and a group of them were going, I was included. It was actually good fun as the weather was kind and the boat belonged to a friend of a friend’s friend so it was just us. I haven’t been since, and can’t see me doing it again though.

      1. I should add that Hubby did catch a fish from our boat with a pin on a pole and piece of bread for bait. It was the size of a chip, so he threw it back!
The deep sea fishing was something else though.

  3. Having had tropical fish for many years (and in five different tanks, all at the same time), I can attest they are lovely to watch and look wonderful as set pieces in the house. But there is so much work and maintenance to do, constantly. I gave up my tanks during COVID and found I have much more free time now.

Like owning a boat, it’s always better when it’s someone else’s responsibility! 🙂

    1. Interesting comment about owning a boat Richard. As liveaboards for almost three years we loved it and if ill health hadn’t got the better of us, the chances are we’d still be on it.
My brother had tropical fish and he said they were hard work. He had some beauties though. Have a good week.

      1. It seems that every few months it starts to misbehave for weeks. Then I have to catch up again.
