Happy Thursday everyone and welcome to another week of wonderful doors. I have collected quite a few doors from travelling around Western Australia and this week I will be showcasing my first few from Perth’s CBD. As always, let me know if you have a favourite.

I think I am drawn to number one this week. It’s a beautiful looking door set within a great brick framework. I feel like it has a very mysterious aura about it and I had absolutely no idea what to expect when I opened the door. It was a bar / restaurant but very different to what you might assume. It was almost like an airport terminal, not much character, almost like it was designed to be something else but they quickly turned it into a bar. Nonetheless, the food and drinks were lovely and it was right beside where we were staying so I was grateful to have somewhere to eat when we first arrived.
I favor #2 because of the way everything, including the doors, points upwards. Those tall, narrow windows are a lovely emphasis.

Me too Beth! Thank you. I was actually looking for a barber but this one was closed.

Beautiful photos, Wayne. I love the Church, the tall spire and the unusual color balanced with smaller doors increase the idea of height even moreso.
The weather in Perth looks great. Love the sky, sunlight and shadows in number 5.

I agree that door # 1 is great looking, especially with the metal (?) studs. And the bricks of the wall is interesting, too. 🙂

These look great, Wayne. As usual, you’ve made it hard to choose. I love the church, with those large stained glass windows, but I’m going with number 4. I like the doors, and you captured the corner door while open. I think that gives it a feeling of life.

The last looks quite impressive. What kind of building is that? I’m drawn to the Belgian cafe doors too. Nothing to do with the beer… xx

Thank you! I love that building too. It was built as part of the early 20th-century power network that transformed high-voltage electricity from the power station into lower-voltage supply suitable for use across central Perth. Today it’s a listed building and often decorated with street art.

I am drawn to number 3. I like the reflective surface, the hint of greenery in front and the way the shadows play on it. I also like the white borders contrasting against the dark reflective surface.

Thanks very much! You’re right, it’s a great door and the white borders are pretty cool.
