What personality trait in people raises a red flag with you?
If there is one personality trait that instantly raises a red flag for me, it’s rudeness. Not just the occasional off day we all have, but a consistent, dismissive way of treating others.
I have always believed in treating everyone the same, from the doctor to the cleaner, from the CEO to the person serving coffee. Titles and uniforms don’t make anyone more or less worthy of respect. What truly matters is how we carry ourselves, and how we treat the people around us.
This is why I notice when someone shows kindness to me, yet turns around and speaks rudely to someone else. It’s a clear sign of inconsistency. Kindness isn’t real if it’s selective. Personally, it is one of the biggest red flags in character, you have revealed how you really value others when you think no one is paying attention.

What about when you see the rudeness and everyone SWEARS it’s just an off day, except that day never ends? https://invisiblymisdiagnosed.com/2025/09/09/daily-prompt-a-sea-of-dark-pink-flags-9-9-25-tw/

If it happens more than once, I would question said individual. Also we don’t know what is going on in people’s lives behind closed doors. Is there a reason for their bad behaviour? Does it make it any more acceptable?

I think historically I’ve failed to separate the understandable from the acceptable.

Being kind to others should be something that naturally occurs to everyone, but sadly it doesn’t. When I am out walking, I see lots and lots of “Be Kind” signs in yards. I think the sentiment is great, but it makes me a bit sad to think that people have to be reminded of that. I think here in the USA, the “president” is no help as he fuels the hatred with his tweets.

I totally agree. It’s sad and shocking that people have to be reminded to be kind. I think a lot of people lack empathy, it’s just not something that everyone has, not sure if it has to do with nature or nurture.

Totally agree with this. I always think a good rule of thumb is to treat others how you wish to be treated, especially in the service Industry. Those guys really do take some abuse from other people who ought to know better.

I always think like that too and tell students this all the time. Thank you!

Absolutely, mate. I’d also add seeing someone be rude to those they think are beneath them, like waitstaff in a restaurant, or a janitor in the office. If they can’t treat everyone equally with kindness and respect, there’s something wrong with them.
