Thank you Di for this week’s questions.

1. Do you forgive and forget, or forgive but remember.

I can absolutely forgive when someone shows remorse but I won’t forget. It may go to the back of mind, I’m good at compartmentalising things but it will always be there. I love that saying, “Once bitten, twice shy”.

2. If someone has hurt you deeply, do you avoid them, cut them out of your life, or carry on as usual?

I would normally avoid them. I don’t want to be hurt over and over again. I have sadly had to cut a few people out of my life over the years but it 100% has made my life quieter and fuller. I don’t like drama so I will try to avoid at all costs.

3. If you could be a wild animal, what would that be?

I think I would be a type of bird, possibly a goose. They really do get the best of every world, able to fly, swim, and run, and smart enough to migrate to warmer places when winter rolls in. The only real downside would be keeping a safe distance from anyone with an interest in foie gras.

4. What colour are your eyes?

Blue, but not a clear blue, rather a green shade of blue, if that makes sense.

Gratitude: I’m grateful to have gotten through a couple of tough weeks with loved ones being unwell. Time is a great healer, I am a firm believer of that.

Thank you Di for this week’s questions.

1. Do you prefer a duvet on the bed or sheets and blankets?

Duvet all the way. I hate when sheets are tucked in and you feel trapped in the bed.

2. What is your favourite pizza topping?

Peri Peri Chicken or BBQ chicken is delicious. Not everyone likes chicken on a pizza so I don’t have it too often.

3. What topping do you like on ice cream (sweet sauce, chocolate, sprinkles, fruit etc).

Is it weird that I have nothing on my ice cream. I don’t feel like I need it, I enjoy the ice cream for what it is, however I am partial to a cone with the ice cream perched on top.

4. Do you like to wear a hat?

Yes I love to wear a hat. I love a baseball cap, paddy cap and my favourite at the moment is the Australian bush leather hats. A well-known Australian brand, Barmah Hats, specialises in durable, foldable kangaroo leather hats. Often described as “squashy,” they’re designed to be packed down for travel without losing their shape, making them ideal for the outback or life on the move.

Gratitude: I feel this is the same every week but I am genuinely grateful to have survived Monday and Tuesday.

Thank you Di for this week’s questions.

1. What time did you get up this morning?

6am. This is my normal time when I’m working.

2. What are your plans for today?

I’m teaching today, all day. In the evening I will go to the gym for my Tuesday night gym class and afterwards will cook a nice dinner with my other half. We may watch a little tv before getting ready for another day of work. Prepare breakfast, lunch and have my uniform ready for another working day tomorrow 😜.

3. Has 2026 been a good/better year for you so far?

So far so good, no complaints. We’re plodding along with work and have already travelled for a few days at the beginning of January. Now it’s time to get the head down and focus on work, saving money and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

4. What is on your meal menu for today?

Ooh now that’s a question. I have some leftover chicken so may create a meal using that.

Gratitude

Delighted to have survived Monday and Tuesday!

Thank you Di for this week’s questions.

1. Are you a dog or cat person, or do you prefer no pets or unable to have one for some reason.

I am very much a dog person but we cannot have one as yet due to living in rental accommodation. Hopefully in the future we can have a dog or two.

2. Did you have a pet as a child?

Yes we had a beautiful golden Labrador that I still think about often, he was a big part of the family.

3. Have you ever ridden a horse?

Yes a few times although I can’t say I’m a big lover as I always have a slight fear of falling off. Although, they are really beautiful animals and I am more than happy to see them from ground level.

4. What was your favourite animal in either a zoo or circus?

Meerkats! I love how there is normally one that keeps an eye out for the safety of the clan. They are extremely cute and curious!

Gratitude: Surviving Monday and Tuesday at work!

Thank you Di for this week’s questions.

1. Would you like to have your own private jet?

Oh yes please. I could travel home to Northern Ireland any time I wish and travel to new destinations without having that dreaded time at the airport. No checking in luggage or even having to travel to the airport. If I have a private jet I hope that it can use renewable energy resources as I don’t want to be putting more pressure on the environment.

2. Would you like a chauffeur to drive you everywhere?

Oh yes please again. I mean, I do like driving but I hate traffic and having to find parking. Tonight I am working late and will be taking public transport home. Therefore, my own chauffeur would be very much welcomed.

3. Would you like to live on your own desert island?

No thanks. I would be bored after some time and I do like company. Maybe if I could visit my own desert island on a weekly or monthly basis for a couple of days, that would be heavenly.

4. Have you ever had anything made to measure (suit, dress, shoes etc)

No, I actually don’t think I have. I’m pretty average when it comes to sizes too so it hasn’t really been a necessity. I have thought about having my own suits made when I was on holiday in Hong Kong but I don’t really have a need for them.

Gratitude: thankful to be working but I will have the weekend off. That’s a rarity in my profession unless you request it off.

Thank you Di for this week’s Christmas questions.

1 – Which do you prefer, Christmas pudding, mince pies, or trifle?

Oh I love all three. However, I have literally just finished a mince pie so I will go with that, with a cup of tea of course.

2 – Which gives you the most satisfaction:

Cooking a special meal for your family / Dining with family and friends / Not having to do the washing up afterwards.

I will say dining with friends and family as I’m not the best cook ever. I’m not bad but I find it stressful cooking for many people. Also I actually really enjoy doing the washing up, I find it very therapeutic.

3 – Can you recall the best and worst gift you received (any occasion)?

Best gift, I once received an iPad from my parents when they had just come out, I was very excited, surprised and grateful but I have had many from my partner over the years. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, I’m easily pleased if there’s been some thought put into it. Worst gift, I haven’t had any thing horrendous thankfully, not that I can recall.

4 – After a full and enjoyable meal what do you prefer to do:

Take a nap, watch TV or play board games with the kids?

Maybe watch tv or I don’t mind board games with the family. Ideally I would love to go for a walk after a meal.

Gratitude:

Grateful to be off work on Christmas Day as I know this isn’t the case for many nurses.

Thanks Di for this week’s questions!

1. Are you busy making preparations for Dec 25th?

No not really. I have nothing to plan as it will be just us two this year, which I’m really looking forward to. I will be working a lot and even bought myself a new Christmas scrub to wear. I want to try make the Christmas week festive for us and our patients.

2. What is your favourite Christmas/holiday movie?

I love The Holiday with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet. Growing up I always loved The Santa Clause and Home Alone.

3. What is your pet hate Christmas song?

I’m not a lover of Merry Xmas Everybody” by Slade. I think it’s the shouting throughout of “It’s Christmaaaaaaaaas!” the really annoys me.

4.  Which actor in your opinion made the best Father Christmas?

I always loved Tim Allen and I can totally appreciate Richard Attenborough but recently I have really enjoyed Kurt Russell in The Christmas Chronicles, he really looks like Father Christmas!
