The Holiday

What does your ideal home look like?

Have you ever seen this 2006 movie, The Holiday? It is one of my absolute favourites, especially at Christmas. Iris’s English cottage (Rosehill Cottage) in the Surrey countryside is exactly what my ideal home would look like, with its stone walls, timber framework, thatched roof, warm fireplaces, and that fairytale snow covered look.

I want a home to be warm and cosy, yet spacious enough that it’s not too cramped. I would love a garden, not necessarily at the front but definitely at the back so I can have some outdoor space and a couple of pooches. Lastly it would need to have a stunning front door or at least a door with a beautiful wreath on it.

Happy Thursday everyone and welcome to another week of wonderful doors. I’ve realised that my weekly doors posts are the only things that are keeping me blogging at the moment, thank goodness for doors and to Dan for having the weekly door challenge.

With work being so busy, I just haven’t been able to travel much but hopefully that will change in the coming weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy to be busy at work and grateful for the opportunities here in Australia.

This week I am showcasing a few doors from Huntington in England where my sister lives. I have visited many times, with the most recent trip being last month when I visited home. I was looking back through my doors and couldn’t believe that I actually haven’t posted many doors from Huntington as yet. Surprisingly to me as the doors there are exquisite.

As always, please do let me know if you have a favourite or if one simply stands out more.

I absolutely adore number five for the quaintness of the door, the glass panels, the wreath in situ and the exterior. I love everything about this cottage, including the thatched roof, the lantern on the wall and even the dog on top of the roof, apparently in remembrance of their previous pet pooch. What are your thoughts?

Thanks all and have a great end of the week.

Wayne

Happy Thursday everyone and welcome to another week of wonderful doors. Two weeks ago I flew over to England to visit my sister who lives just outside London in a small town in Cambridgeshire and of course I was able to spot a few lovely doors.

I only managed to picture five doors but I know there are hundreds more. I look forward to seeing more in the future and exploring doors from other parts of the UK. Please let me know if you have a favourite door this week. Not all the doors are clear to see but I love the design and architecture of the whole buildings, however, if you zoom in, you should be able to make out the doors 😉.
