Woolooware Bay shared pathway

This is another fantastic walk that you can do in the Sutherland Shire and a walk that we have been dying to check out for a long time now. You start just behind the shopping mall in Woolooware, beside the Cronulla Sharks Rugby League stadium and follow the 5km flat walk all the way to Taren Point. This is a very popular paved path and boardwalk trail used by pedestrians, cyclists and unfortunately e-bikes also, that seem to be taking over the Shire lately.

Along the Woolooware to Taren Point boardwalk, you move through a changing mix of natural and urban scenery. The early stretch is all mangroves and shallow waterways, especially around the edge of the Towra Point Nature Reserve, where you can often spot shorebirds, pelicans and other wetland life feeding on the mudflats at low tide.

Fortunately for us and many others, there is a local brewery along the route, offering unique beers and quite often has a food truck parked up for the day too. The Hairyman Brewery is a favourite of ours and produces the very popular Pop Ale, a beer made with malt & hops, a dash of superior New Guinea vanilla plus the genius that is Creaming Soda (Hairyman Brewery, 2018).

As you continue, the views open up to fishing spots, passing cyclists and glimpses across the Georges River, with boats and yachts becoming more frequent near the Captain Cook Bridge. The walk gradually shifts from quiet nature to a more working waterfront feel, with marinas and light industry appearing around Taren Point. You can also opt to keep walking over the Captain Cook Bridge where you can take in the breathtaking water and city views before reaching the St. George Sailing Club for a bite to eat.

All in all, a fantastic day out and a very enjoyable way of getting your steps in for the day. Great exercise and nourishment for the soul 🧘🏼‍♂️

Doors of WordPress V135

Happy Thursday everyone and welcome to another week of wonderful doors. This week I am showcasing a few doors from the suburb next to us called Caringbah. We went for a walk here on Sunday looking for a popular board walk. The good news is that we went for a walk and got our steps completed, the bad news is that we took a wrong turn and totally missed the boardwalk. Ah well. We will have to try again at a later stage. It wasn’t all bad though as I was able to spot these beautiful houses with fantastic doors and we managed to stumble across a brewery that we had frequented before. It does the best creaming soda ale I have ever tasted. Ok, so it’s the only creaming soda ale I have ever tasted but it is absolutely delicious.

As always, let me know if you have a favourite this week.

We called into the Hairyman Brewery for a couple of Pop Ales! Extremely tasty and thirst quenching, it would have been rude not to take some home.
