What’s the biggest risk you’d like to take — but haven’t been able to?
Sometimes the biggest risks aren’t about thrill-seeking, they’re about change. For me, one risk I have thought about a couple of times is packing up and moving to Perth. After my recent trip, I can really see the appeal. The lifestyle, the beaches, the slower pace, it all just felt right.
However, big moves come with big unknowns, new routines, new jobs, new friends. Maybe that’s what makes it feel risky. Still, part of me wonders, what if that risk is actually the reward waiting to happen? Who knows?!

Haha no not this time. I’m actually happy to be working. Perth has been on my mind for some time as the wages are higher, it’s a quieter way of life and closer to Ireland 🤣🤣

Do you feel nothing is growing in your comfort zone?

Hmm maybe. Awk no I feel I am still growing in my work for sure. I just think there is more on offer in other places, however, I am very much aware that the grass isn’t always greener – but what if it was but you were always to scared to check? 🤣

It’s something I think about all the time but sometimes moving, especially somewhere far away, is not always feasible. Good luck, whatever you choose to do!

Thanks Sharon, it’s always interesting to daydream or ponder with these things. It’s not on my immediate agenda but you never know.

I was invited to an expedition down the Amazon River and then into the jungle. I refused, and I am still quite happy that I did, especially after I read Humboldt’s diaries.

No really. I am happy I didn’t go after I read Humboldt’s diaries. I went instead to the High Arctic and that was great.

Yes his diaries sound pretty harrowing, especially his near death experiences and his witness to slavery of indigenous peoples. How was the High Arctic?

I love the clear view when it’s really cold, below minus 25C. The optical illusions, like four suns and part of rainbows everywhere, I find fascinating. And the forms of the icebergs are fascinating.

I’d love to be able to do a big move too, perhaps to another country. Except it would be tough to leave our family behind.

That would be so exciting but yes family is the big concern. Somewhere in Europe would be amazing but I would have to learn another language.

Thanks Hazel, I’m just daydreaming, I won’t be moving any time soon.

Yeah it can be nice to move somewhere else you haven’t been before often

Having moved numerous times, a few times halfway across the U.S., I can attest it’s a challenge.
Change isn’t always for the best, but regardless, it’s still a learning experience. Just make sure you do your research before you make the leap, my friend!

Oh I probably won’t be going but if I knew everything would be better, I would be tempted. I have a good life here in Sydney so happy to stay here for now.
