Do you vote in political elections?

Yes I always try to, as I feel it is a privilege that many other countries are denied. If you want to make a difference, you need to vote.
Funnily enough, today is voting day here in Australia and it is compulsory to vote in this country. I think it’s a great idea to ensure everyone has their say. You also receive a fine for not voting, so yes, I will be voting today!
This is a big one, we are voting in the federal election to elect members of the 48th Parliament. I’m really hoping it doesn’t go in the Trump direction but nothing surprises me these days. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.
Wow Wayne! You get fined if you don’t vote! I hope your country does not go the way ours did in voting for a convicted felon to lead us to destruction. Hope it goes well! Robert

Cheers Robert. Thankfully no fine for me haha. Result was good, let’s hope they remain positive moving forward.

I don’t necessarily agree. It depends on whether there are any candidates worth voting for. I think people need to feel that they can change things, and if they don’t feel that (for example if all candidates are unacceptable), then who can blame them for not voting?

If everyone voted, even for the underdog, then change could happen. Some people think their vote doesn’t matter but that’s exactly what the big parties are hoping for. When fewer people vote, it’s easier for the status quo to stay in power. But every vote is a voice and when more people show up, the system has to listen. That’s my take on it at least. I’m delighted that so many young people are voting now and realising that their vote does matter.

The other thing is, a vote for anyone is a vote “for” whatever electoral system happens to be being used. So if someone doesn’t agree with that system…l
Bear in mind that not everyone wants a choice between different flavours of capitalism

Thanks Pooja, I’m delighted with the result. Not everyone will be happy though but it hasn’t gone right and that was my worry.

That’s great, yeah of course those that lost will be disappointed but I’m glad it didn’t go in that direction too.

Hope the vote goes the best way. I think I heard in your country the equivalent to Liberal is Labour Party. Canada went Liberal which is opposite to what Trump is.

Thanks Jean. Labour won so I’m happy 😊 that’s equivalent to Liberals in Canada. Our liberal here is more like conservatives or Trump.

The different parties in different countries gets confusing. Glad the Labour Party won.
