What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?
For the past couple of years I have been eating oats for breakfast, normally up to five days per week. I love how they taste, they’re super healthy, easy to make and relatively cheap. I feel that they will improve my quality of life due to the many health benefits that they have been linked to, for example, lowering blood glucose levels, they’re rich in antioxidants and can lower cholesterol levels.
I often refer to Healthline to research anything to do with health. According to this website, oats have nine health benefits, feel free to check them out here. I always love to know the good things that food can do for our bodies
I have recently become obsessed with a brand called White’s and was delighted to discover that they are made in my hometown of Tandragee. I always knew we made oats where I am from but never thought I would end up eating them, never mind loving them!
Do you like oats? Do you prefer quick or overnight oats?

Wayne ✌🏽

I love making overnight oats with lots of good fruits and peanut butter. Now I’m hungry…

Sounds lovely! Maybe without the peanut butter 😜

I’m hooked on anything peanut butter, especially when it’s paired with chocolate. Yum.

I have been eating oats for about 20 years. My cholesterol is still sky high…😉

Oh no way?! I’m snookered 😂

LOL! The oats should reduce the cholesterol but it doesn’t work miracles for me.

My favourite when I can get them is Flahavan’s Irish Porridge Oats, really creamy.

Oh I love those too! They’re my second favourite 🙌🏼

Wanye, Neal and I also like oasts in the morning. I have tried overnight oats but only once. That’s not enough times to know if I like them or not. Neal loves making his thick with butter and I prefer a more creamy style. We also like topping it with fresh fruit.

That sounds great Robert! Overnight oats took me a few attempts to really start enjoying them. I can’t imagine eating them with butter! 😂

Ha Wayne! All those ways we prep our oats were for the cooked ones not the overnight oats. Yes butter on cold oats would taste so weird. Sorry for the confusion.

Haha all good. Not sure I would even like butter in cooked oats 🙊😂

They can also be ground up to make oat flour. I make some easy bread from it. Have to be gluten free for me to use them. Not sure we have that brand or not. Sounds interesting.

I don’t do the porridge…did off and on for awhile but not a regular thing. My grandfather on one side had it every morning of his life.

Looks good! I wish I could, I can’t have gluten. They are heart healthy.

Ah that’s a shame. Apparently they are gluten free but they can become contaminated with other cereals that aren’t gluten 🤷🏼♂️ you would think they would have an alternative method to making them.

My dietitian also recommended oats in the morning. Now you’ve given me motivation to start having them.

I used to eat oats several days a week, but then my doctor said to cut back on the carbs. So, I traded them in for a protein shake each morning. I suppose that since they have so many health benefits I could add them back into my diet.

Oh wow, you could even add the oats to your protein shake, sometimes I do that. I guess everything in moderation. I used to eat eggs every day and my doctor said that was too much 🤷🏼♂️

I try to eat oatmeal at least 2x a week. You are doing great having it 5x a week! The thing I do daily to hopefully improve my health is that I exercise. I either swim, go for a brisk walk or I run. I also take an occasional yoga class here and there too.

That’s amazing. I’m sure twice a week is very good too and exercising daily is excellent. I try to do that also, even if it’s just a 30 minute walk.
