Sydney lockdown is officially over 🙏🏼

We made it guys! After 106 days we are now officially out of lockdown. Boy it feels good…but also a bit nerve wrecking. It’s so nice to have our freedom again, seeing people out and about, hustle and bustle everywhere. However, you can’t help but think, the virus is still out there. I’m still in favour of social distancing and trying to be as safe as possible. Although I’m double vaccinated, I’m still keen to avoid contracting coronavirus 😬.

People of Sydney, or anywhere in the world that has lived through a lockdown (I’m sure everyone has), what was the first thing you did when the lockdown was lifted???

For me, it was work as usual. Being a nurse, we didn’t have any time off during lockdown. Yes I am forever grateful to have been in employment and have some sort of normality. At least we could see our work colleagues and chat about the ever changing pandemic days whilst still earning an income. However, I’m sure I speak for many nurses, it would have been lovely to have a couple of weeks off at home. Not annual leave or being off sick but just days at home to chill out and reset. Alas it wasn’t meant to be and that’s ok.

Finishing work, it was really amazing to see people out on the streets, seeing people sitting through cafe windows enjoying their soy caps and shopping malls with shop doors finally opened again. There was a real buzz around Sydney today and it felt good, albeit a bit strange. The first thing I did was go to the gym. As much as I was slightly nervous, I couldn’t wait to get back to training and seeing friends. Finally I could lift a heavy weight again 🏋️‍♂️ and maybe feel the burn the next day 😅.

I hope you all enjoy the next few days/weeks of having no lockdown. What are you excited to do/see? I personally can not wait to be able to travel again ✈️.

Thanks for reading guys and stay safe 🙏🏼

  1. How difficult that must have been being a nurse during lockdown. I felt like coming out of it was very anticlimactic. It still feels like in a way that we are in lockdown. Life has changed and I don’t believe we can ever go back to normal. I’m still afraid to cough in public or have my seasonal allergies bother me as I get dirty looks every time. I felt like a tiger trapped in a cage waiting to be let out, only for there to be no food when I left the cage.

  2. I really do appreciate your post in the comment interaction. It’s helping me tap into something different then wallowing in my developing depression.

Make sure you stay safe out there, also I’ll follow your blog because you’re writing is pretty interesting.

  3. Honestly, I don’t know wtf America is doing. Some of us are locked down or others are not. Where I’m from, which is Texas, we’re still going over the mask and abortion issue.

I am not a huge fan of the lock now, let alone want you to think about it anymore. Almost every little thing that made me feel free I don’t necessarily enjoy anymore. Doing food deliveries and blogging with my escape from my parental reality. Now, everybody and their great great great grandmother third time removed is either doing that or other remote work.

Still, gotta push to find something good in all of it.

      1. Honestly, that’s true. Almost forgot where my roots were when I started blogging when the lockdown began. Everyone pushed SEO like crazy that I almost eat, lived, breathe, and birthed SEO content or needing to rank within the first top five pages of Google.

Now, I’m revamping everything on my site and completely letting it all go. My life has taught me that each second pass, regardless if the world is burning to the ground or not, I still need to do what I need to do to feel close to satisfaction as much as possible.

  4. Dear Wayne,

HaHa! Now that the lockdown is over, you are back to being a gym rat in no time.

In any case, I would like to resonate with your new freedom as follows:

    Be brave
    Be bold
    Be beautiful
    Be you

Wishing you a productive weekend doing or enjoying whatever that satisfies you the most!

    Yours sincerely,

  5. I’m so glad you’re finally out of lockdown. It can be really difficult to be so isolated for so long but going back to normal is also kind of weird to be honest. The first thing I did was go to my university library and return a book I had for like six months 😂

  6. Every time we have come out of lockdown (here in England we have had several, as I’m sure you know!) It has felt a bit strange, tbh. I missed seeing family and friends and being able to hug them. We have just returned to our house, in France, after an absence of nearly 2 years, that’s been pretty amazing! You do a wonderful job & stay safe too 😊
